Great Ocean Road 2014

Yay! we are off to the Great Ocean Road tomorrow morning.

Our travels through Victoria will take us via Melbourne for an organized pickup of items in one of the suburbs close to the city, so we have 3 days to arrive at the designated time. We're aiming for Gunning to be our first camp, a big drive for us but we will have a couple of rest breaks along the way.

So we headed off at 8am, it took a bit to check Slingshot's and my tire pressure for the vans and the cars at the garage.  Slingshot said her car steering felt lighter and easer after that. I'm sure we will save on petrol too.

It was a really big day, Going to sleep peacefully tonight. We cruised along at around 80ks most of the time, enjoying the changing scenery with a relaxed drive stopping for morning tea at the twin garages on the M1 then Bowral truck stop for lunch and arriving at Gunning about 3.30.  This was the biggest one day drive we expect to do as we now have plenty of time to get to Melbourne.

I cruised into Gunning on the smell of an oily rag so we headed straight to the garage. Got 450kl out of a full tank, I'm happy with that.

The CB's are working exceptionally, keeping in contact while driving is fabulous.

Ruby did well, finally learning to sleep in the car.

The caravan park by the water course is a free park with toilets and a shower, fantastic choice, but many vans are here already so we plan to stop earlier in the afternoon during our trip.  Of course we walked to the shops and left a small amount of money at the butcher shop and possibly more shopping tomorrow morning.
