Sunday morning to Coopernook 2013

Sunday morning and finally on the road about 8.30am. Karen is looking after the house and the mail for me.  Checked all tires at the garage, 32 for the the caravan and 35 for the car, that sounds ok.

Stopped at Bulahdelah, the bypass bridge not completed yet but there is a new huge roundabout on the north side of town. The town is getting a face lift with new footpaths and road resurfacing in front of the pub and shops.

Passed Taree, turning off the hwy at Forest road, then left at the roundabout, the road is tar for a km or so then dirt for about 4/5 kms. On the way thu I see the bush has been burnt and a bit of logging is happening there too.

The camp area is a large open area with a long drop toilet, many tall trees suround. There are not many campers here only 3 caravans, 2 tents, 2 motorhomes and a group of scouts that look like they are packing up to leave.

A fellow camped near me by the name of Elio, started a fire up and like a moth to a light, I was sharing that fire shortly after.  Not a cold night, some cloud cover so the night was comfortable for sleeping.

I left the pegs that hold the floor mat down at home, not that important can buy if needed. Bugger no I didn't !!!! just remembered I packed them in the pipe at the back of the caravan with an extra tarp and 3 poles just in case rain becomes a problem, Need to update my check list.

Monday, the solar panels have done their job, fully charged and Elio showed me how to check the level with the multimeter.  I haven't figured out how I should to charge the laptop yet so as I'm staying a few days here, I'll drive into Harrington and Croudy Head and charge it in the car tomorrow.

When I wound down the caravan legs I broke one of the screws that wind the leg out.  It can be wound up but while down it doesn't support any weight.  Something I need to follow up.

Another fellow nearby named Denis, went for a push bike ride thru the forest.  He heard a really big bang, thinking someone was shooting at him, dismounted and in an instant waiting for another shot while looking down at his bike found his tire had completly blown out. He was about 8 km away from camp and carried his bike back.  If that was me I would have hid the bike in the bush and drove to get it........I won't be riding my bike here.....

We spoke this morning and before he left for Harrington he
put his new 3 week old glasses on the bonnet of his truck while he shaved. Well, he was back shortly and scouring the grass for his glasses.  I helped him look for some time, after searching he drove off and checked out the road.  Hours later he came back with them and a grinning smile on his face.  He bought me a bundle of large fire wood logs in return for my search.

Tuesday
Another fantastic camp fire last night, there were 5 of us hearing each others tales, this fire is near my front door. I did ask 2 ladies traveling together and a Kiwi couple (Di and Arthur) to join us but they didn't show.

There has been a dirt bike in the area, he must be camped in the National Park further on in the bush.

I've set up my shower screen, if it dosen't fold down correctly when its time to leave, it will be heading for the bin.

I'm giving the inverter a workout with the laptop this morning but first I checked the meter and will compare what charge it takes from the battery, I think it will be ok though. Good reception for tv and internet but Southern phone is not good.

Di and I went for a drive to Harrington to fill up my 2 10 ltr water containers and visited Croudy Bay for a look see, this is the Lighthouse on top of the hill overlooking the bay and beaches.

Lots of campers came in Wednesday afternoon, few left this morning.

I'll stay here for a bit longer just relaxing.
